Council’s offer over Worsleys Road
Property-owners on the unformed part of Worsleys Road want the Heathcote and Paparua county councils to spend at least what is paid in rates on improvements.
This was reported to a meeting of the Paparua County Council’s rural districts council yesterday, when the County Clerk (Mr A. Kelly) said he and the county engineer (Mr A. Dyhrberg) had conferred with the property-owners. The owners, who had asked the Minister of Local Government (Mr Highet) to intervene in the refusal by both councils to do work on the boundary road, were told that the Paparua council was prepared to consider approving of work to be done at the owners’ expense, or to have the council do the work with N.R.B. subsidy at the owners’ expense. An estimate of costs was being prepared for reference to the owners, Mr Kelly said.
The chairman (Cr A. Y. Shuker) said that Heathcote was not happy at the request. Speed limits. — A speed limit of 30 m.p.h. was imposed on Templeton Road and the limit on a section of Henderson’s Road was reduced to 40 m.p.h. A 40 m.p.h. limit was imposed on Hyndhope Road, and on Kennedys Bush Road from the 30 m.p.h. zone to its end.
