Printers lift ban
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 29. Because they do not wish to prejudice the General Election and the School Certificate examination, workers at the Government Printing Office have lifted their ban on Parliamentary and other printing work. The assistant secretary of the Public Service Association (Mr A. J. A. White) said on Friday that the printers decided to lift their ban imposed because of the alleged loss of margins for tradesmen at the office.
Mr White said printers had not accepted any Government offer for rises. The Government Printer (Mr A. R. Shearer) said there was a two-week backlog of work to be cleared up from the week-long ban.
