Container agreement
(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND, Oct. 29
A new container agreement, which was twice rejected by the Auckland Waterside Workers’ Union, will now be put into effect at Auckland as soon as possible. Union officials have advised the Auckland Harbour Board that the union has accepted the conditions.
According to a union official the decision resulted from a meeting of the union executive.
The union at first rejected the agreement, after it had been accepted by the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Federation and all other container ports, and then later decided in favour of it after a mass stop-work meeting.
