Defeatist attitude
(N.Z. Press Association/ WELLLNGTON. The official doctor with the New Zealand Olympic Games team in Munich, Dr T. R. Anderson, said on Saturday night that the attitude of most of the team had compared poorly with that of the rowing squad.
Dr Anderson said, at a dinner in honour of the triumphant oarsmen, that many of the athletes in other sports gave the impression of being beaten before they had started. On the other hand, all of the oarsmen had radiated optimism and determination, and had had “the look of gold in their eye.”
