CLASSROOMS APPROVED
Three schools in Canterbury
(From Our Own Reporter?
WELLINGTON, Oct. 26-
Tenders are to be accepted for relocatable classrooms at three Canterbury schools, the Minister of Education (Mr Pickering) announced today. The Canterbury Education Board is to accept a tender by Duffield and Barron, Ltd, of $51,148.82, being the lowest of three, to construct four classrooms at Aranui Primary School and two at North New Brighton Primary School.
The Minister said that, in accordance with the new staffing schedule and continued residential development in the Aranui school district, the four new proposed classrooms would give two additional units and replace two prefabricated classrooms.
The purpose of the new classrooms for North New Brighton was to ensure that there was adequate accommodation during 1973. The board is also to accept a tender by J.J. Construction, Ltd, of $37,832, being the lower of two received, to construct four new relocatable classrooms at Burnham Primary School. This will provide for the replacement of two prefabricated classrooms and cater for expected school growth.
