The Court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal by Ronald Anthony Dick, aged 30, against conviction on charges of causing grievous bodily harm and assisting an escaped person to avoid arrest.
The appellant was convicted in the Christchurch Supreme Court on July 18 this year, and sentenced by Mr Justice Wilson to three years imprisonment on the first charge and six months on the second, the sentences to be served concurrently. An appeal against sentence was abandoned and an appeal was only made against the first charge. The Court comprised the Chief Justice (Sir Richard Wild), presiding. Mr Justicej Turner, and Mr Justice Rich-! mond.
