Broadcast time for new parties

(By our education reporter) WELLINGTON, September 29. Three new political parties contesting the 1972 General Election have been provisionally allocated network radio and television time, the N.Z.B.C.’s Director-General (Mr L. R. Sceats) said in a statement today 7.

The three groups are the New Democrat Party, the Liberal Reform Party and the NewZealand Values Party. Chancge hindrance to ed “The time allocations are related to the number of candidates the parties intend fielding.” Mr Sceats said. “The New Democrat Party has been offered a total of !30 minutes on television. Twenty minutes will be taken in multiples of five minutes, and 10 minutes will be used as the party see fit so long as no single broadcast runs for less than a minute. LIVE ON RADIO

"In addition, the opening public meeting of the New Democrat Party will be covered live by the national radio programme, and the party will make a five-minute studio address and a 10-minute closing studio address at the end of the campaign. “The Liberal Reform and New Zealand Values Parties have been allocated equal time on television and radio. Each party will receive a itotal of 10 minutes television time comprising one fiveminute programme and other broadcasts to be taken at the discretion of the parties concerned. No broadcast will run for less than a minute. “On the national radio programme each of these two parties will make one 15-minute, one five-minute, and one 10-minute studio address. JOINT EFFORTS “The three parties have also been invited to participate jointly in the two N.Z.B.C. - arranged programmes, ‘Election Post’ on the national radio programme, and ‘Election Forum’ on television. On both these
