SYDNEY. The New Zealand World Cup golfer, W. J. Godfrey, had a two-over-par 75 in yesterday's first round of the Australian P.G.A. title at the Lakes course, Sydney. Yet. he began with a birdie at the first and got another at the third after a one-over at the second.
H. Kennedy was the best of the New Zealanders with a par 73. A. Palmer failed on the back nine to take 82. Palmer was square with the card after nine holes, but hit two balls into the water in taking a 10 at the fourteenth. The Queenslander. R. Vines, was leading the tournament with a five-under 68. by a strike from Australia’s World Cup player, W. Dunk.
