Rugby side suspended
(N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA. The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union has suspended the entire Onepu junior side that featured in an explosive Mclntosh Shield match against Greerton at Tauranga on Sunday. The suspension order was carried out by the Rangitaiki sub-union and will be in force until the Bay of Plenty union can arrange a special meeting to consider further action. In Sunday’s match, abandoned 20 minutes before time, five Onepu players were sent off, one spectator was dismissed from the park, and three Greerton players were detained in hospital.
