Santos now ‘improving’
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The condition of the boxer, Joey Santos, who was admitted to Wellington Hospital after losing his Commonwealth junior welter-weight title bout with the Ghanaian, Joe Tetteh, was described as “only fair” by a hospital spokesman yesterday. The boxer’s manager, Mr L. Russell, described the condition of Santos as being “definitely improving,” however.
“He has had concussion, and recovery is a slow process, but he seems to be back to normal now,” said Mr Russell. “Several people have been to see him and he is conversing quite well.”
