Compost
Sir, —It is sad that so few who burn their garden weeds and clippings realise that, if heaped, chopped small, and turned into compost, they will help the soil fertility of their sections more effectively than with chemicals. Soil depletion and waste of best materials for restoration are ignored. Household waste mixed in is also indicated for the replenishment of all that is taken from the earth. — Yours, CONSERVATION. Sept. 26, 1972.
