Banks welcome changes
(N Z Press Assnciatlnnf HAMILTON, Aug. 30. The president of the Associated Trustee Savings Banks (Mr J. A. Grace) has welcomed the amendments to the Trustee Savings Bank Act, at present before Parliament. Approval in principle for the granting of cheque facili-j ties to trustee savings banks is included in the amending legislation. The association had yet to.
learn from the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon) which banks would be permitted to . have cheque accounts when ’ the amendment had been en- ■ acted, said Mr Grace. ■| The increases in the maxit mum amount in trustee savings bank accounts on which ■interest may be paid— to ■ $40,000 on deposits by nonprofit organisations and to > $12,000 for all other depositors —were also welcomed by JMr Grace.
