The appointee will be expected to take up duty early in 1973. The appointee is expected to be able and willing to teach advanced German language classes and courses in German literature at both pass and honours level and to have a good general knowledge of German history and civilisation. Other qualifications being equal, a native German speaker with a good command of English would be preferred. The department is engaged in studies of the structural and biochemical aspects of arterial disease, Upid transport and metabolism, the transport of hormones, microcirculation including tissue transplants, the function and structure of the lymphatic system, inflammation, repair and the mechanisms of cell injury. Good faculties are provided for the use of electron microscopy in these studies. The salary range of a FeUow is $A8166-$A11,217 per annum, and of a Senior FeUow $A11,234$A13,172 per annum; initial salary depends on qualifications and experience. Appointment is made for an initial period of five years; thereafter the FeUow or Senior FeUow may be reappointed untU retiring age. A FeUow is entitled to one year’s study leave on fuU pay in every seven years and a Senior FeUow to one year in every six years’ service. A contribution towards travel and other expenses of study leave is paid. Appointment of Research Fellows and Senior Research FeUows is normally for a period of three years with an extension to five years or in special circumstances to a maximum of eight years. The salary ranges are: for Research FeUow $A68045A9324 per annum; for Senior Research FeUow $A10,026-$A11,964 per annum.
