Plastic bags for trial
"The indications to date are that plastic bags are not suitable in their present form," said the chairman (Mr D. B. Rich), when the Waimairi County Council on Thursday evening decided on a trial of the bags for rubbish collection.
It was agreed to conduct the tria' over a period of 10 weeks at about 200 houses at Redwood, in the block bounded by the Main North Road, the railway on the west and north, and by Sturrocks Road.
As the plastic bags are not readily adaptable to the holders of the paper rubbish bags issued by the council, the firm supplying the plastic bags will issue clips for fastening them to the holders.
