Sister Leo to go overseas

AUCKLAND. July 12.

Helped by a $5OO donation from the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council, the inter-nationally-known singing tutor. Sister Mary Leo, will leave for overseas later this year.

The donation was announced by the chairman of the council (Mr W. N. Sheat) in Auckland. in recognition of the “outstanding contribution” made by Sister Maty Leo to music and singing in New Zealand. A group of the nun’s friends have begun a fundraising campaign to help with her travel expenses. During her tour of the United States, Canada, Britain and Europe, Sister Mary Leo will study modem teaching methods’ She will also visit some of her former pupils, including Kiri Te Kanawa and Mary O’Brien. It is not known how long she will be away.
