COAST LOSES

(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS. Hawke’s Bay beat the West Coast, 24-6, in a scrappy, representative Rugby match at Nelson Park, Hastings, yesterday. Hawke’s Bay led, 9-6, at half-time, and although it scored another 15 points in the second half, the entire match only produced two tries. The local team was unable to make constructive use of a plentiful supply of ball, and although it won the lineouts, 37-13, chances were squandered by mishandling by the backs. Scorers.—Hawke’s Bay: M. Duncan and I. Grant, tries: A. Willis, a conversion and two penalties; G. Martin, two field goals. West Coast: R. Hibbs, two penalties.
