The French Minister of Finance (Mr Valery Giscard d’Estaing) said in Lisbon today that France supported Portugal’s negotiations for association with the European Common Market, and he promised his country’s aid in developing Portuguese industry. Speaking at the end of a two-day visit to Lisbon, Mr Giscard d’Estaing predicted that such an association would benefit Portugal as it had France, both countries having basically an agricultural economy.
