“Mr Industry” at fair
“Mr Industry” will replace “Miss Industry” at the New Zealand Industries Fair this year. However, patrons of the fair in August at Canterbury Court need not necessarily expect leonine heads and bulging muscles replacing pretty faces and curves. “Mr Industry will be chosen from applicants aged between 16 and 19 on August 10 for the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association 1972 industrial award-—a $l5O cash prize for a young man displaying “potential and aptitude in training for a career in industry.” The applicant may be a trainee executive or a promising tradesman, a salesman or a secretary. He must be prepared to appear at the Industries Fair for interview on radio and television and to face a panel of judges, yet to be chosen. There will also be a dressmaking competition for girls, run at the fair.
