Bread
Sir, —Regarding the recent decision by Christchurch bakers to discontinue certain lines of bread, I think it is shocking to discontinue the split loaf and the mini loaf. Have *■ these bakers no thought at all for the oldage pensioners, widows, and widowers who are living alone? Most of these persons require only a quarter loaf of bread a day and under this latest decision by the bakers they will now be wasting at least this amount daily. Admittedly some of them will have deep freezers and will be fortunate enough not to waste the bread, but not everyone would be as fortunate. Bread is pleasant to consume only when it is fresh.—Yours, etc., IRATE CONSUMER. July 2, 1972.
