LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

(1) Letters to be considered for this column must not exceed 150 words. They should be on only one side of the paper; preferably typewritten, otherwise clearly written in ink; and ample margins and space between lines should be left for convenience in sub-editing. (2) A legible signature and full address—not a P.O. box number — are required whether these are to be printed or not. (3) The correspondent must say whether the letter has been or is to be submitted elsewhere. (4) The editor cannot return or keep any letter not accepted for printing; nor does be undertake to acknowledge or enter into correspondence concerning letters, although an acknowledgement will be made where this seems to be necessary or helpful. (5) As a general rule, correspondence on news items in other publications, or carried on radio and television, is not acceptable. Antidote.—Not now Open. Softy.—Suggestion is not proof. Apple-pied Cyclist.—The point hardly needs emphasising. Fed up with W.W.—You don’t have to read him. Brian Blackmore.—We have reported their reasons. Pequod.—lllegible and does not comply with above rules. Nori-west Bill.—Your concern is understandable but unfounded. M.C.H.—No doubt there will be further articles on the subject. Ex-Labour.—You would reopen subjects recently closed after full discussion.

Viewer.—We are awaiting answers to an inquiry on this subject. D. G. Rotherham.—No space to discuss youth delinquency again just now; and the limit on letters is 150 words. "P. E. Granite."—Thank you; very helpful. It would be still more helpful if you would tell us what you are writing about. Eileen Brindle.—We share your views; the overseas writers tend to overestimate national partisanship in their sports reports. John Bateman.—Director-General, International Labour Organisation, 154 Rue de Lausanne, CH-1211, Geneva 22, Switzerland.
