Rescousse wins Oaks

(N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PARIS. Baron de Rede’s SUy, Rescousse, ridden by Y. Saint Martin, led from start to finish to win the 1,820,000 francs ($293,492) French equivalent of the Oaks, the Prix de Diane, at Chantilly on Sunday. Rescousse held on by half a length from Prodice, the mount of English champion jockey, L. Piggott, with the winner’s stablemate, Paysanne, finishing third. Piggott narrowly faUed to win his third classic in eight days—he captured the French Derby on Hard to Beat the previous Sunday and the Epsom Derby on Roberto last Wednesday. Last Friday he finished third in the Epsom Oaks on Arkadina. Prodice produced a strong run in the late stages of the 10 furlong race, but could not pull back Rescousse. The winner is trained by G. Watson.
