Cyclist extends record ride to Stewart Is.

H. R. Bush’s marathon cycling ride and record attempt from Cape Rienga to Bluff has taken a tum—for the longer. Thanks to the generosity of the Oban publican, Mr George Crack, Bush will now continue after the major portion of the ride to Stewart Island. Mr Crack—who has ridden the length of New Zealand himself—will fly Bush and his party of supporters and observers to Stewart Island, and Bush will ride the short distance—believed to be about a half-mile—from the wharf to the post office. Hence, Bush is now calling his ride “Cape Reinga to Stewart Island,’* though for

record purposes, the finish at Bluff will be that taken into consideration.

Bush also said yesterday that he had received permission to ride across the Auckland Harbour Bridge, and was waiting for confirmation that he could use sections of motorways normally prohibited to cyclists.
