Testing stations

Sir, —“Satisfied” appears to have had a good run through the Cranford Street station, getting his warrant in five minutes. I was not so fortunate. I was faulted on front wheel bearings and front suspension. On taking the car to a garage to get it fixed, I was told there was nothing wrong with the bearings or suspension and to take it back and tell them so. This I did, and I then went through the second time in five minutes. But why should I have to make a second trip unnecessarily?—Yours, etc., NOT SO SATISFIED.

March 23, 1972. [Mr T. J. Spackman, acting chief vehicle inspector for the Ministry of Transport, replies: “If your correspondent would supply further details regarding the inspection, or would give me a ring, his complaint will certainly be investigated. It would be appreciated, when a person has any reason to be dissatisfied with an inspection, if he would contact the station’s senior vehicle inspector before leaving the station.”]
