“Foreign Affairs Review”

Sir,—Receiving now a copy of “New Zealand Foreign Affairs Review” dated October, 1971, I wonder if the Foreign Affairs Department or the Government Printing Office would like to advise why this magazine is distributed five months after publication date. Assuming that nothing can be collated until the first week of November, that still leaves four months to collate and publish a magazine. The magazine is very good for reference material but couldn’t it be distributed a bit earlier?—Yours, etc., M. O’NEILL. March 16, 1972. [The Minister of Foreign Affairs (Sir Keith Holyoake) replies: “The editing, production, and distribution of the ’New Zealand Foreign Affairs Review* cannot be achieved in much less than two months owing to the volume of work (some of which must be accorded a higher priority) being processed -by the Government Printing Office and limited staff resources within the Ministry. Even so, the ‘Review’ is currently several weeks further behind schedule, partly because of delays arising from the Christmas holiday break, and the Ministry regrets this inconvenience to readers. Efforts are being made to reduce the period between the dates of events reported in the ‘Review’ and the time of publication. Recent improvements in distribution procedures, effective from the November , issue, will also help.”]
