A surprise New Zealand acceptor, Mr Hing, had Australian i Jockey Club officials baffled) as they studied the final field for the 350,000 Doncaster Handicap, of one mile, on Saturday. ; I Mr Hing, trained at Matamata Iby A. L. Jones, acordlng to re-! (ports reaching the officials is! still in New Zealand. The A.J.C. chief registration officer, Mr R. Lilley, said he knew nothing at all about Mr Hing, whose only start this season was in August. He said he had no registration papers for! the horse and was unable to! find out anything about its back-i ground. The horse could start if it arrived unexpectedly, but there. would have to be evidence of identification and the A.J.C. would have to have confirma-1 tlon from the New Zealand Rac-| ing Conference about the horse’s! history. Other officials believed the! horse, nominated from New Zea-, land, might have been left in the field by mistake. (|
