Petrol tax $14.9m
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 29. The local authority petroleum tax returned $14.9m during its first 12 months, said the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Highet) yesterday. The tax was approved to begin on February 1 last year but five tax areas did not impose the levy during that month, and, of these, three did not begin the tax until April 1. The highest monthly return was si.4m in December and the lowest returns were $779,435 in February last year and sl.2m in May.
