Rugby tour opposed
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN The Otago University Rugby Club has announced its opposition to the 1973 Springbok tour. In a letter to the Otago University Students’ Association, the club committee, which reached Its decision at a meeting earlier thia week, said that “it abhors any sport administered on a racial basis, or teams which are selected in terms of race rather than ability." "Therefore, we cannot support the proposed Springbok tour of New Zealand If the team is selected as stated above," the committee said. However, it added that “the decision whether or not a player from the dub, if selected, plays against the Springboks, must be a personal decision of the player concerned."
