Airlines’ cricket

The first inter-airline cricket tournament, to be held in the Sydenham club’s grounds on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, will be attended by about 60 visitors from Australia. Six teams will compete in a 40-over knock-out competition. They will be Christchurch N.A.C.; Wellington N.A.C.; EastWest Airlines, of Tamworth, New South Wales; Qantas, Sydney; Combined Airlines, of Melbourne; and another combined team including players from Air New Zealand, Auckland, Air New Zealand, Christchurch, N.A.C., Christchurch, and Mount Cook. Sponsors have been obtained for the tournament and it is hoped by the organisers that it will become an annual event.
