The New Zealand junior 100 metres champion, IL Sutherland (Unlverslty-Shlrley), won the junior mens* 100 metres in ll.lsec, a relatively slow time, and the national junior 200 metres champion, M. Sweet (Uni-verslty-Shlriey), took the junior 200 metres, also in a slow time.

Although there had been rain over the two days before the meeting, the track was not heavy, and one official commented that the slow times among the senior athletes were due mainly to “end of season lethargy."
