Customs plan deferred
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 29. A scheme for the handling of duty-free goods by traders other than official airport concessionaires was discussed at a meeting between representatives of the Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch airport authorities and the Minister of Transport (Mr Gordon) and the Minister of Customs (Mr Gair). The Ministers said they “reluctantly agreed” to accept the unanimous wish of the airport authorities that, pending a decision on legislative proposals, the systems and charges planned for April 1 be deferred.
