R.S.A. sub. to be $3
After a long and sometimes lively discussion, the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association at its annual meeting last evening voted to increase its annual subscription by $1 to $3, to take effect as from January 1 next. Notice of motion had been given that the subscription be $4 a year, reducible to $3 for First World War members. This was said to be necessary because of an increase in N.Z.R.SA. capitation and the compulsory contribution to the association’s journal, the “Review”. Several members spoke strongly against having to take the “Review”. When a motion was put “that this association is not prepared to make a compulsory contribution to ‘Review’’’ it was carried by a big majority. A motion that the subscription be $3 for all members was put as an amendment and carried on a show of hands. The meeting approved a motion that the new executive have plans drawn up for the building of another floor over the present Armagh Street premises, the new area to be for social and recreational purposes. Officers elected were:— President, Mr J. Green; vice-president, Mr D. N. Harland; committee. Miss M. E. Rae, Messrs T. McCormick, S. J. Geary, F. R. Busch, A. K. Hopa, R. M. Hill, F. W. K. Humphreys, G. E. Munro, E. E. Dann, L. W. Clarke, and R. G. P. Dunn.
