Akaroa values up $4.3m
The capital value of property in the Akaroa County has risen $4.3m in the last five years.

The new land value of the county is $9.48m, and the new value of improvements, $7.3m. The rural district valuer (Mr J. R. Kingston) who conducted the revision of the county said that while there had been an increase in the number of sheep and beef cattle in the last five years, the number of dairy cattle had fallen. There had been a steady increase in the number of holiday homes built round the inner Akaroa Harbour and outer bays. Community amenities, notably roads, had been improved to give better access to some of the more remote areas. The land market in the county had been relatively active for most types of property, and sales recorded in Akaroa and adjoining Peninsula counties had been sufficient in volume to establish a sound basis for the new level of values.
eastern end of the township had brought higher sale prices there, and valuation increases for hill sites were above average. The new valuation roll will be open for inspection at the Valuation Department office in the State Insurance building, Christchurch, and at the Akaroa County Council office until April 28.
