Warning on abortion
(N.Z.P.A .-Reuter—Copyright) HARROGATE (Yorkshire), March 22. The Queen’s doctor has warned British women not to become “abortionminded” until they know the full effects of such operations. Sir John Peel, the Queen’s gynaecologist and president of the British Medical Association, told the Royal College of Nurses* conference at Harrogate that the sideeffects of abortion must not be disregarded. It would be another 10 years, he said, before society knew the total cost in complications of abortions.
“More and more women are becoming abortionminded. The fact that termination is so much safer than 10 or 15 years ago suggests to many gay people that there are no complications,” Sir John Peel said. “It would be irresponsible to disregard the complications because, apart from morality, there are a lot of physical and emotional complications,” he said.
