Non-stop dart throwing marathon

A 24-hour dart-throwing performance will be held at Easter to raise funds for the Canterbury Darts Association.

Four women and eight men from the association will begin on the Friday at 6 p.m. and play until 6 p.m. on the Saturday, taking a five-min-ute break every hour. They will try to break a record set by the New Zealand Army of a total score of 700,000 points in non-stop playing. It is hoped that each of the players will find 100 sponsors for up to 10c an hour.

Money raised at the “dartathon” will go towards building extensions to the association’s rooms, so that the South Island dart-throwing finals may be held there in July.
