Santos finds more gas
rN.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) SYDNEY, March 22. Santos, Ltd, has reported that equipment has been assembled at the Big Lake No 2 well and work is proceeding to control the gas blowout.
The drill pipe has been cut off and the rig has been skidded to install a new blowout preventer. Mud will be pumped into the well in order to regain control and allow further evaluation of the hydrocarbon potential of the formation.
The Della No 5-A well was drilling at a depth of 6,446 ft. Drill-stem tests number three and four each flowed gas at the rate of 8.5 m cu. ft a day through 7/16 inch chokes, from intervals 6,228 to 6,349 ft and 6,356 to 6,446 ft respectively, the company said.
