BURGLAR HARMED
The burglar who entered the premises of George Anderson and Son, Ltd, auctioneers, in Colombo Street early on Wednesday morning “must have got a rude awakening falling through the office ceiling in the darkness,” Mr J. L. T. Dyer said yesterday.
A hole three feet square in the wall-board ceiling of Mr Dyer’s office, and blood on the carpet, resulted from the fall.
Other damage to the premises includes a bole in one wail and a broken office dock (stopped at one o’clock).
Mr Dyer thought the burglar must have fallen into the office when attempting to leave the premises. An office chair was placed outside the office to enable him to climb on top of the ceiling in a attempt to reach windows facing Dundas Street Blood was also found outside.
Stock, including blankets and clothing, was taken 1 the burglary.
