Protection for golfers
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON. The Bournemouth borough council is to make a law to protect golfers from golfball gangs, the “Guardian” reported. Schoolboys have been roaming the municipality’s two golf courses swooping on balls which are shot out of sight. In deals behind pavilions and hazards, the "lost" balls
are passed back to harassed golfers at a rate of $1.07 a half dozen. According to a council aiderman, even old age pensioners are in on the racket He said they train their pet dogs to sniff out the balls. The proposed by-law will ensure that no-one other than the players shall search for bails, the “Guardian” reported.
