WELLINGTON, Mar. 7.

A total of 183 new companies were registered in New Zealand during January, according to the Registrar of Companies. This was 26 more than in January last year. However, 91 companies were dissolved during the month, compared with only 34 in the same month last year.

The nominal capital of the new companies totalled $2,464,120. Three of the companies made up $1,558,580 of this.

During the month 65 companies increased their nominal capital by a total of $21,661,756, including six companies which increased their nominal capital by $20,240,000. There were three reductions in capital involving $1,007,000. Receivers were appointed to 28 companies during Januuary, and 14 receivers ceased to act. In January last these figures were 11 and 12 respectively. The Supreme Court ordered ; three companies to wind up • and 43 went into voluntary liquidation. The figures for January, 1971, were none and 18 respectively. At January 31 this year there were 84,060 companies on the register, compared with 79,763 at the same date last year. Included in the ; figures are 521 overseas com- ; panies, compared with 517 , last year.
