N.Z. anti-war conference

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, March 7.

A national anti-war conference will be held in Auckland next month. The Auckland Anti-war Mobilisation, the organisers of the conference to be held on April 22 and 23, said it was designed to plan new action in response to the recent developments in the Indo-China War, “particularly President Nixon’s escalated bombing in IndoChina and the training of Cambodian troops by New Zealanders.”

The conference will also plan a campaign to put maximum pressure on the major parties for the General Election.

It is also expected to draw attention to, and express solidarity with, anti-war actions to take place in America and elsewhere throughout April. A spokesman for the committee said it was expected that more than 500 delegates from throughout the country would attend.
