The Audit Bureau was formed five years ago by the Association of New Zealand Advertisers Inc., the Newspaper Publishers’ Association of New Zealand Inc., and the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of New Zealand Inc. to protect the advertiser by safeguarding him against unverified circulation claims. There is only one Audit Bureau of Circulations in New Zealand, and only publications whose net paid sales are audited by independent chartered accountants to the Bureau's strict standards can be publisher-members.
