Snow on ranges
About four inches of snow fell in the high parts of the Mid-Canterbury ranges on Friday morning—the outcome of a spell of. rain and cold weather after extremely hot days in the district. The manager of Erewhon station (Mr A. Urquhart) said that the snow started about 5 a.m. and stopped about 10 a.m., but it fell only in the high parts. Musterers had to come down from the mountains because of the snow and the bitter cold, Mr Urquhart said.
