Shark at Westport
Several Westport surfers had their first shark scare on Sunday evening while surfing near the tip head at North Beach, Westport. Graeme Williamson first saw the 7ft shark, and scurried for shore. Neville Roberts joined him soon afterwards when the shark started to thump his board with its tail. “I didn’t stop paddling till 1 reached dry land,” Mr Roberts said yesterday. Some Westport surfers have decided to stay out of the water there for at least a week. —{F.0.0.R.)
