EXPORT OF BOILERS
The export of Christchurchmade steam boilers to Singapore has shown a marked increase in the last four years. The boilers are designed and manufactured by Mason Anderson, Ltd, a member of the Mason Group. Mr L. B. Allom, managing director of Mason Industries, Ltd, visited Singapore in 1966 and found a big potential market there for the boilers.
A Singapore firm was appointed agent in 1967, and in February of 1968 the first boiler was exported. By September of 1971 the company had placed orders for boilers with a total output of 150,0001 b of steam an hour ranging in capacity from a mini-boiler of 6001 b an hour to one of 10,0001 b an hour. On a recent visit to Singapore Mr Allom presented lamb’s wool rugs and paua shell cuff links to members of the company's staff to mark the volume of business transacted.
