SUSPENSION FOR DRIVER

Interference to Hallway (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL. After the running of the Scottish Command Handicap at Wyndham on Saturday, a complaint was lodged against W. A. Murphy, the driver of Blue Eden, on the grounds of intereference to. Hallway (D. Hamilton) with about a furlong and a half to run. After hearing evidence, it was decided to suspend Murphy’s horseman’s licence until December 18, inclusive.

After the running of the Hunter Handicap, an inquiry was held into an incident involving Prince John, Adios Adieu, and Jopaga with about three furlongs to run. Prince John and Adios Adieu fell and Jopaga was badly checked.

After hearing from the stipendiary steward and A. J. Stack, the trainer-driver of Prince John, it was found that Prince John, which was in the lead, one out, broke when free of interference and caused Adios Adieu and Jopaga to be put out of the race. It was decided to declare Prince John ineligible to race at any totalisator meeting up to February 26 and that a recommendation be made to the N.Z. Trotting Conference that Prince John be placed on the schooling list.

M. F. Mulvena, the trainer of False Bid and Lady Earnscleugh, was fined $25 for nominating both horses when not in possession of a current trainers’ licence. He was also ordered to scratch the horses.

After the running of the Brydohe Handicap, an objection was lodged against second place being awarded to False Strike (L. F. Norman) on the grounds of galloping over the concluding stages. It was decided to relegate False Strike from second to fourth, Adios Ann going up to second and Lauder Globe to third.

Shooting.—G. Mclntyre, of Wellington, successfully defended the title he won last year when the second national running boar championship was held at the Ohariu Valley rifle range at the week-end. K. Osman (Palmerston North) was second, and G. Blackwell (Wellington), third.
