Talks on aid to farmers
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Nov. 29.
The Cabinet discussed aid to sheepfarmers today, but there were "no decisions to take,” said the Prime Minister (Sir Keith Holyoake).
Speaking after the Cabinet meeting, he said the purpose bf the discussions had been to get the minds of the members of the Cabinet as clear as possible on the question.
The Cabinet heard reports of talks with the producer boards and Federated Farmers, and more talks were expected this week. The possibility of a contribution from Meat Board reserves was “one of the things we are discussing,” the Prime Minister said. He was still hopeful that a decision could be made next Monday.
