Hagley H.S. crew wins
K. Welsh and G. Wright, sailing Crest, for Hagley High School, won the Peter Mander Trophy when they were placed second in the fourth race of the J.C.-claSs intersecondary schools’ event at Mount Pleasant yesterday. Because of the nor’-west-erly conditions, only two of the seven starters were able to complete the course. Results of the regatta were: J.C. class. Peter Mander Trophy Fourth race (seven started): Kimahia (C. Price and M. Hay, Linwood High School) 1, Crest (K. Welsh and G. Wright, Hagley High School) 2.
Over-all results: — Crest (Hagley), 4i points, 1; Kimahia (Linwood), 122, 2; Claymore (St Andrew’s College), 22L 3; Mirage (Christchurch Boys’ High School) and Amigo (Linwood High School), 25 (equal) 4; Rangiora (Rangiora High School), 26, 6. Open class (two started). —Good Ques, Starling (P. Lester) 1. P class (five started).—Barnacle (S. Mander, St Andrew’s College) 1, Twiggy (Miss R. Shields, RangiRuru) 2.
