‘ACE’ PRIZES

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. Professionals who hole in one on the final day of the Otago Charity Golf Classic on Sunday have the chance of winning a good range of prizes.

With three holes in one scored at Balmacewen during the New Zealand Open, chances of an ace at St Clair are considered to be good. None were scored on the final day last year. A $2OOO cash prize has been offered by Bramwells Scaffolding, Ltd, for the 186-yard par-3 fourth hole. Arthur Barnett, Ltd, has offered $lOOO for the 160yard par-3 seventh hole and Gardner Motors has offered a Hillman Avenger car valued at $3OOO for the 176yard par-3 thirteenth hole. A cash prize of $lOOO will be given by Four Square to the first professional golfer to drive an ace on the 172-yard par-3 sixteenth hole. The chairman of the organising committee (Mr R. M. Hall) said the prizes would be restricted to the first professional to hole in one at the holes on the final day of the tournament.
