Gift from Festival

A cheque for $2lB, the proceeds of a bridal festival held in August by McLeod Fabrics, Ltd, has been sent to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. The gift will be announced to members of the society at its Christmas Party, to be held at the rooms on December 6. A similar bridal festival was staged recently by the firm in Dunedin. It raised $137, which was presented to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Dunedin.

Middle East by huge shipments of modern arms to Egypt and helps India to maintain its superiority of fire-power over Pakistan. We ship arms to all nations under the guise of maintaining the balance of power and hold up our hands in horror when they use them. Bishops bless our war machines while we pray for peace in our churches. We produce $240,000m worth of arms and keep millions of non-producing men to use them. We set up commissions of economists and bankers to study the reasons for world inflation and ignore the greatest cause—arms and millions of troops who create nothing but world misery.— Yours, etc., R. J. GLEN. November 27, 1971.
