Another venue?

Yet another venue for the Commonwealth Games has been suggested. It Is in one of the “peace-lov-ing” communities of the Eastern suburbs of Christchurch.

Speaking at a farewell function for Mr and Mrs C. T. Ford, at Kingslea, on Saturday, the chairman (Mr R. R. Gibson) said: “We are not going to cause the Mayor any worry, but I would like to say that here at Kingslea we have a magnificent swimming pool and a sports arena so spacious that it encourages in some girlk an embarrassing sense of freedom.”

Replying later, Councillor M. Clark, said that sporting members of the Christchurch City Council might, well hold sports meetings there to compete against “the opposition.”
