Soccer man dies
The New Brighton club in particular, and Canterbury soccer in general, lost a valuable administrator by the death on Saturday morning of Mr Brian Hennessy, aged 41. Mr Hennessy helped revive the Brighton club 10 years ago, soon afterwards became its secretary, and worked long hours to lift the club into its present prominence until he was forced to retire because of a serious illness earlier this year.
It was his ambition to see Brighton win a place in the national league and the club achieved this objective this season. In addition to his work for Brighton, Mr Hennessy was also a leading administrator of the successful indoor soccer competition of a few years ago. I
